Steve’s legal challenge is on behalf of all of us who want to continue to grow/eat GM-free food. It is time that farmers and consumers halt this GM juggernaut which threatens to change the planet irrevocably for the worse and our health and happiness with it. This is a chance for us collectively to do this and it is imperative that at the very least the defence does not falter for lack of funding. Give generously. This has already cost Steve Marsh and his family dear and it will cost us too if we do not stand up united to support him against the biotech industry and keep standing up united against it.

On this site there is little point in writing about how evil GM is; its just repeating the obvious to the already converted.
Better use our energy to fight.
4 Corners is a good idea, else Australian story, they did a great show about the gold-plating of energy networks poles and wires. A great story about a handful of country people who fought and won the good fight against BIG energy.
What about the independent media? Guardian, Green Left, NewMatilda, the Conversation.
Making the site easier to use for donations would be a small step in the right direction too. I had trouble until I decided to use Paypal; that was easy.

Round -Up attacks the immune system of the plant.Humans do not have the same immune system so the assertion is it is safe.Round-Up attacks the immune system of the bacteria in the gut in animals and humans. This has been scientifically proven. Is there then a correlation between the increases of diseases and the increase of round-up world wide? I have made a donation. it has never made sense to me that American farmers can be sued for patent infringement if their crops are contaminated by GM. I think that – as GM seeds remain under the control of the patent holders – the patent holders should be sued for contamination of crops – it takes HARD WORK to maintain crop and soil standards to get and keep organic certification, whereas ‘all’ you need to grow GM is preparedness to buy fresh GM seeds every year and enough money to water your crops with Round Up or the new version of Agent Orange, plus the ability to cope with the financial losses when the crop does not do as well as advertised.
I am nervous about GM traits crossing over to different plants, too, which has happened already in the USA. Who will be responsible for the cost of the clean up when this happens?
Good luck. I am hoping that you win, and win conclusively.
Even if logic and good science come secondary to financial considerations, there is no reason why YOUR financial concerns should be discounted!

The decision to permit the travesty of GMO into WA was made by our wonderful supreme leader Premier Colin Barnett at the behest of the a farmer lobby group in order to maximise their profits at the expense of other non GMO farmers and the environment.
The same Premier has now permitted the culling of some of the oceans apex predators the Great White Shark, Tiger Shark and Bull Sharks for conveniance of the tourist lobby. Another win for big business!

I am supporting this action with my money and my mouth. But I have to say that it is wholly unsatisfactory that this involves pitting an individual WA farmer against his neighbour and that now lobby groups on both sides are raising money to go to pay for the ever escalating costs of litigation. I’m sure our current government isn’t the least bit interested in legislating against GMO and that it’s financially impossible to fight Monsanto and win. I spend lots of money on organic and pesticide free food and time and energy to make it a central part of my life. I consider this donation just a token percentage of that sum and hope that Australians wake up and exercise our choices, while we still have one.

‘A dozen shopkeepers and clergy got together in a print shop in London in 1787 and said, in effect, no more; this is wrong; it must stop. So they set about gathering information on what was really happening. The distributed brochures and pamphlets and lectured. They introduced legislation, they lobbied parliamentarians. Maybe most significantly, they systematically undercut arguments defending the normalcy and necessity; the economic arguments, the political arguments the moral arguments.

They took on and beat one of the most pervasive, most accepted, most “necessary” structures in human history – that of slavery. Today we take the abolition of slavery to be perfectly reasonable, moral, inevitable’. It started with a small number of right minded people, moral people, brave people. People like you Steve.

This is from “Treading Softly – Paths to Ecological Order by Thomas Princen” who also points out that for much of the twentieth century smoking was not just acceptable but cool, hip, the thing to do. Then a few researchers questioned the normalcy, the conventional wisdom, the health-giving assumptions of smoking. More right minded people, moral people, brave people.

Wishing you and your family the very best wishes. You shouldn’t need luck; it is a no-brainer; but then again you are fighting vested interests, enormous influence and immoral values – so all the luck in the world as well.

I wish you success in your court case, Steve. There have been too many farmers ruined by Monsanto here in the U.S., and it would cheer us to see a victory against that conscienceless company. Yesterday I participated in our local March Against Monsanto here in Jefferson City, Missouri–only two hours away from Monsanto’s home in St. Louis. This company controls the back rooms and the legislatures on both the state and federal levels and has captured the applicable regulatory agencies. It will take a huge amount of citizen involvement to break its hold on our decision-makers.

I can not believe our corrupt Government has denied Steve his god given rights. It’s all about bloody MonSaten (aka Monsanto) and what they want (to set back the population to 100 million by feeding us poisonous food.. I tell you this world needs to rise up against these blood suckers, and I think the public has had enough of our government, and should make sure we vote them all out,
Stop voting Labor and Liberal, and bring in the public people to run our country. The Australian court is nothing more than the horrible Vatican dictatorship.

Start listening to some NON-mainstream news which is real news and not this dumbed down free to air crap. get informed, check out web sites or YouTube about non-mainstream media, it will set you free. Look for people and organizations like like Caravan to Midnight or Coast to Coast AM or Santos Bonacci, and get informed on what is really going on with this world.
    Peace.

I’m in the UK and have just learnt of Steve’s action against GM. What Steve is doing is crucial to our survival as healthy individuals, in a healthy society and environment. So, I’ve made a donation to the fighting fund. I’ve been an organic consumer for decades and am now a cancer survivor, thanks to a combination of Macrobiotic and Gerson therapies. Both are 100% reliant on organic produce. There’s no doubt that without the organic produce, I’d have been laid out on a marble slab a while ago. So as you say in Oz, “Good on ya, mate”!

This issue is bigger than many realise. It is a direct assault on our personal freedoms. Keep fighting Steve. As a pensioner, I can only give $10, but if everyone who reads this gives the same amount, we can win.

Hi Leo, thank you for supporting Steve. It only takes many of us giving a small amount to make a big difference in supporting Steve through the appeal process.

As a consumer who’s choice is organic food, and who supports farming in harmony with Mother Nature. May Steve win this fight!! He is one courageous farmer :)

How a judge could rule in favour of a neighbour deliberately growing GM crops right next to a non-GM or organic farmer’s crop beggars belief.
He must have known Steve would lose accreditation.
It was also remiss of the judge to declare that the organic accreditation system was too harsh.
What right has a judge to declare this of an officially-recognized body?
How about the stupid agriculture minister that said only a metre or so was enough separation between GM and organic farm crops–what world did he live in?
Read Rachel Carson’s book, Silent spring and wake up to what Govts do to our food.
    Stand firm, Steve.

I wish you the best Steve Marsh and co, and to all that donate, and spend time campaigning for this, you are the salt of the earth. Diggers ftw!
