Help keep Tassie GM Free!

The Tasmanian Government is currently reviewing its moratorium on genetically modified crops. Tasmania’s GM free status is an important part of its clean, green reputation. GM crops increase pesticide use, put the control of our food supply into the hands of a few giant multinationals and are rejected by consumers globally. Let’s keep Tassie GM free!

The Tasmanian Government is currently calling for public submissions regarding its GM crop moratorium. Please take the time to write a short submission to send a strong message to the Tasmanian Government that Tasmania should stay GM free.

The public submissions period closes at 5pm, Friday 11 October 2013.

Industry forums

The Safe Food Foundation and Organics Tasmania are co-hosting two industry forums on the benefits or otherwise of Tasmania extending its GMO moratorium. The forums are intended to enable farmers and the food industry to have a frank conversation about the issue. The forums will be held on the Thursday 3 October – with a lunchtime forum near Launceston and an evening forum in Hobart.
